Audi is the UK’s most reliable manufacturer, according to the annual ‘FN50’ survey of the UK’s top 50 contract hire and leasing companies, which this year gauged the opinion of over 600,000 company car drivers. The ‘FN50’ survey, compiled by specialist title Fleet News, is the nation’s largest poll of vehicle reliability. It asks participants from the top 50 (by fleet size) leasing companies to rank the best vehicles and manufacturers for reliability, and then filters each category into a Top 10. The most reliable car was the BMW 3 Series with the Audi A4 second. The list of top 10 models was completed by the Volkswagen Golf, Honda Civic, Audi A3, BMW 5 Series, BMW 1 Series, Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Octavia and Ford Focus. However, Audi topped the most reliable car manufacturer list by the narrowest of margins from BMW. The German duo was followed by Volkswagen, Honda, Ford, Skoda, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Vauxhall. The survey is based on downtime caused by warranty claims, recalls and breakdowns per 100 vehicles on fleet. Ford topped tables in the ‘FN50’ van reliability survey for both model (Ford Transit) and manufacturer for the second consecutive year.
