Jaama, the UK’s leading fleet and asset management software and risk management specialist, has enhanced its driver licence validation service to enable instant verification of information with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
Jaama’s eConsent enables customers to request checking approval efficiently via devices such as personal computers or smartphones rather than drivers having to physically complete, sign and return a paper mandate.
Jaama managing director Martin Evans said: “The new service allows drivers to accept or decline consent for licence checks using a secure website rather than completing a paper mandate. Once drivers have provided consent, it is valid for three years from that date or until consent is revoked or no longer required. eConsent is a convenient method for employers or vehicle providers to obtain approval from employees and associated drivers to perform checks on their driving licence before allowing them to drive company-provided vehicles.“
Demand from fleets for administratively simple but robust validation of employees’ driving licences is increasing following last year’s abolition of the paper counterpart of the driving licence.
Jaama’s comprehensive licence checking service greatly reduces the administrative burden for employers. The system provides powerful management information because all data on drivers and their vehicles is held in one central database which makes intelligent driver profiling and highlighting exceptions straightforward.
Jaama delivers driver licence checking through its cutting-edge, fully integrated Key2 vehicle and driver management system or as a standalone service. The company also provides driver licence validation services direct to fleet operators as well as through contract hire and leasing companies.
Jaama’s driver licence checking service is provided via a direct and secure web-based interface with the DVLA.
Jaama’s continued focus on data security is demonstrated by it recently achieving ISO 27001:2013 certification for its information security management.
The service includes:
- Full auditable checking history
- Simple pay per check charging
- Individual or batch checking
- Provides alerts to fleet decision-makers of licence issues uncovered from the DVLA check.
Mr Evans added: “The only way an employer can be absolutely certain that a member of staff is licenced to drive a certain vehicle type and the number of endorsement points they have on the licence, is to carry out regular checks against the DVLA database.
“Licence checking helps employers meet their duty of car responsibilities under Health and Safety Executive guidelines and contributes to building a comprehensive profile of drivers so that an action plan can be implemented for any individuals deemed to be at risk.”
